How should Christians live? by Cyril of Jerusalem

“Let us all, by God’s grace, run the race of chastity, young men and maidens, old men and children, without abandoning ourselves to lust, but praising the name of Christ. Let us not disregard the glory of chastity, which is the crown of the angels and a superhuman state of life!”

Cyril of Jerusalem, Catecheses 12, 34; PG 33, 768 A-769 A.

Here St. Cyril uses St. Mary as an example of chastity. Although he means by chastity abstaining from sexual activity , I think chastity can be understood in a broader sense. One needs to be temperant in word and in deed, abandoning lust in all our senses; eating, seeing, hearing, etc.
