Virgin Mary’s courage by Ambrose of Milan

” His mother stood before the Cross, an, while the men fled, she remained undaunted …. She did not fear the torturers ….. His Mother offered herself to his persecutors.”

Ambrose of Milan, De institutione virginis 49; PL 16, 333.

You might know what it means to see your child suffer if you have children. Virgin Mary might not be the only one that saw her offspring executed, but she took this with courage and humility. So let’s ask for her intercession, to help us go through the sufferings of this world.

The Egyptian Christians pray in Virgin Mary‘s words and say:

“When the mother saw the Lamb and shepherd, the Savior of the world, hung on the cross, she said while weeping, “The world rejoices in receiving salvation, while my heart burns as I look at Your crucifixion which You are enduring for the sake of all, my Son and my God.” “

Coptic Agpeya (Egyptian Prayer Book of the Hours), Ninth hour (None), 6th Litany.
