Virgin Mary speaks to an Angel Ambrose of Milan

“When Gabriel found her in the place where he was accustomed to visit her, she was troubled by the sight of an angel in human guise, but when she heard his name, she recognized him as someone known to her. She, who felt like a stranger when in the presence of a man, did not feel strange to be in the presence of an angel. He showed her how piously he listened and how modestly he looked at her. Finally, when greeted, she is silent; but, when questioned, she responds. And while at first she was troubled, afterward she promises”

Ambrose of Milan, De virginibus 2, 6-16; PL 16, 220-22

Speaking of Angels, I was told that each one baptised in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is appointed a guardian angel. One of the well-known monastic figures of Egypt St.Shenoute of Atripe, said that the guardian angel presents good works to God. How many good works have you done so that the guardian angel takes them to God?
