Virginity can be understood as a broader concept of abstaining from evil. Many Church and Desert Fathers interpreted a life of virginity in that way. God wants us to be His ambassadors on earth, struggling against evil and shaping our character. In doing so, we preach His death and fulfil the purpose were created for.
